Free language check: test your webshop translation
Enter your webshop URL. We look for the German, French and English versions and show straight away where Dutch text remains, whether the language code is right and whether the hreflang links work.
We do not store your URL or IP address (only a temporary, hashed counter against abuse) and we send no email. You only see the result here on screen. Business customers only.
Please note: this is an automatic indication, not a full review. We look at up to 6 pages, only the HTML (without JavaScript), and we follow your site's robots.txt. Hidden text (for example in a menu or pop-up) may be included, and not every error will be found. A Dutch word may also be intentional, such as a brand name.
What does the language check look at?
- Dutch text on other-language pages. Buttons, menus and sentences such as “Winkelwagen”, “Gratis verzending” or “Klantenservice” left on the German, French or English version. You see the text we found, quoted.
- The language code (lang). If the German page still says lang="nl", browsers and search engines cannot tell which language the page is in.
- hreflang. Do the language versions point to each other and to a working page, and is there an x-default?
- Language versions that do not work. For example a language switcher that leads to an error page.
We find the language versions via hreflang, the language switcher and the common paths /de, /fr and /en, and for each language we look at the start page and one more page.

Is the language check really free?
Yes. You only enter your webshop URL. You do not need to give an email address and there is no obligation.
Do you store my data?
No. We do not keep your URL or IP address and we send no email. To prevent abuse we only keep a temporary count (up to 10 minutes) of how often a hashed code of your IP address uses the check. After that it is gone.
How reliable is the result?
It is an automatic indication. We look at up to 6 pages and only at the HTML. Hidden text, for example in a pop-up, may be included, and a brand name may look Dutch. Not every error will be found.
Does it work with Shopify, WooCommerce or Lightspeed?
Yes. The check looks at the pages as visitors receive them, so the platform does not matter. Pages that are only built with JavaScript are harder for us to read.
Why is my site not checked?
If your site's robots.txt does not allow our check (GrenstekstTaalcheck), we do not check the site. We also skip addresses that are not publicly reachable.
